Episode 3 has been released and it was great to speak to Dan Howells, a high performance coach, mentor and lecturer. Dan’s career started as a strength and conditioning coach with English Institute of Sport and from there he spent time with Wasps Premier Rugby, England Rugby and Houston Astros in Major League Baseball. More recently his experience has expanded from elite sporting environments to include coaching emerging practitioners, lecturing in universities and consultant work for commercial organisations.
Sometimes people come across your radar who take a comprehensive approach, and whilst Dan can expertly coach and mentor the technical aspects of strength and conditioning, the aspect that I wanted to focus on in this episode, and that I believe allows people to excel and perform to their potential, is leadership and learning. The episode was insightful for me to reflect on the importance of curiosity, adaptability and vulnerability, alongside a conscious willingness to want to develop.
If you want to contact Dan regarding any of the topics discussed in the episode and his mentorship support, then you can email him at info@collaboratesports.com
He also runs group mentorship programmes. These are a unique personal development opportunity where you spend six months focusing on a core topic in live sessions with elite and expert mentors from professional sport. More information can be found here.

I hope you enjoy this episode and next month I’ll be joined by Angela Shott, a specialist physiotherapist, head of clinical services and leader. In Angela’s episode we will be specifically focusing on the topic of customers in healthcare environments.
This is an area that I believe is misunderstood and not given time to consider when evaluating different MSK business models. We all have our biases and beliefs on MSK business models but I believe it is important to dissect these to truly understand them.
I would love to hear your feedback on this episode as the series develops and also topics you would love to hear discussed. Thank you in advance!
